FIGHT NEIGHBORHOOD BLIGHT.   RIP BANDIT SIGNS OFF YOUR UTILITY POLES, AND REPORT THEM TO US.

The Bandit Sign Project is a city-wide coalition of community organizations and concerned individuals committed to the eradication of the blight of illegal signage in Philadelphia.

We appeal to those who put up illegal signs to please respect our neighborhoods and stop littering our streets with advertising.

We expect our city agencies and elected officials to enforce all Philadelphia ordinances that prohibit unpermitted signs in our neighborhoods.

A million thanks goes to Margi Megill of Fishtown who created the Change.org petition that many Philadelphia residents in cross sections of the city joined up and sent a message to City Hall that we are sick of these signs.

Mayor Nutter is making it obvious in a hidden way that the bandit sign legalization bill is dead.

It's not because they want him to get back on the straight and narrow, we can tell you that.

It appears the most prolific Junk Cars bandit sign artist has been spotted in the Northeast this morning.

Be on the lookout for a White Toyota, older model truck.   White male with dog in the vehicle with this license plate:

There has been some confusion about this due to an error from an earlier article. COUNCIL BIlL 120017 was formally introduced by Councilman Curtis Jones and co-sponsored by Councillwoman Jannie Blackwell. Councilman Goode does not appear on the caption of this horrible bill. That being said, it is with very firm belief by the founders of The Bandit Sign Project that this bill was introduced for the sole purpose to aid Councilman Kenyatta Johnson, the only sitting City Council member who has faced tough prosecution of the bandit sign law, who took the City of Philadelphia to Federal. Court complaining that this law prohibits free and fair elections, and lost his case then subsequently lost on appeal. These defeats obviously have created sympathy with some members of City Council who want to ensure campaign materials are not impacted by the bandit sign law, but with this proposed bill to alter the law leaving several gaping loopholes to blanket legalization and endorsement of all bandit signs, City Council runs the risk of reversing years of campaigning against public litter and dealing with eyesores in the public realm. This bill is absolutely unacceptable. Please sign the petition (below) and demand to City Council: we demand illegal advertising stay illegal. ENFORCEMENT, not ENDORSEMENT.
